Roof glacier

Those who live in areas where it snows a lot know that the snow doesn't just slide off the roof suddenly in big slabs. (Well, not usually.) It tends to creep slowly and curl around the edge as if it is hanging on for dear life.

This is an example of how it tends to compress one "wave" onto the next.

Of course it eventually falls and the dog barks because she thinks the house is under attack.
